조동사

• 조동사 다음에는 동사원형이 와야 합니다.
• 조동사는 기본적으로 미래지향적인 의미가 있습니다.

Steve may come.
Steve might come.

Steve should do it.
Steve should have done it yesterday.

• 조동사 + have + ~ed(p.p.)
  • 조동사의 의미 + 과거 의미(한국어 '-었/았-')

should + have + ~ed (p.p.)
would + have + ~ed (p.p.)
could + have + ~ed (p.p.)
must + have + ~ed (p.p.)
may / might + have + ~ed (p.p.)

  • to 부정사 개념 + 과거 의미

• having + ~ed (p.p.)
  • ~ing 개념 + 과거 의미

Steve forgets most things. But having said that, he always remembers my birthday.

* having said that = 그렇게(that) 앞서 언급했던 상황(having said)에서
  = 그렇게 말하긴 했지만, 그렇긴 해도

• had + ~ed (p.p.)
  • 과거 + 과거
  • '과거 시제'보다 더 먼저 일어난 일이라는 것을 명확히 표시
  • 일종의 비교시제로 '과거'와 비교해서 그보다 먼저 일어났음을 표시해줍니다.

I had met Steve before you introduced him.

When i arrived at the party, Steve had gone home. | 왔을 때 이미 갔었다 (명확히 표시)
When i arrived at the party, Steve went home.     | 마주쳤을 수도 있고 모름

정리하자면, 어떤 상황이든 have + ed(p,p,)가 쓰였다면 과거 개념이 담긴 ~ed (p.p.) 부분을 중심으로 의미를 파악하면 됩니다.
