영어는 현재 과거 미래에다가 또 4가지로 나뉜다.

즉, 12가지의 English Tenses 가 존재.

Pre-test

  1. Are you looking, I need
  2. I'm writing, I've been writing -> write
  3. is always talking
  4. always forget

  1. is being,
    use -> tell,
    looks -> says,
    has ,
    is
  2. am looking
    is not being -> isn't
    , Do, know,
    are saying -> are repairing,
    will use -> is using

Present Simple

  • 현재 상태
    -> She loves chocolate

  • 영구적 상황
    -> Giraffes live in Africa

  • 일반적 상황
    -> It rains more in summer in Korea.

  • 규칙적, 반복적으로 일어나는 일 / 습관
    -> My parents go to Jeju every summer.
    -> I bite my nails when I am nervous

  • 정보 전달 / 지시문
    -> It says here the strike is over.

  • 말하는 자체가 해당 행위인 동사

    promise, accept, admit, apologize, bet, deny, insist, regret

-> I promise to be more careful

  • 시간표가 정해진 미래 일✨
    • 공적인 시간표(비행 시간, 기차 표 등)
      -> My flight leaves at 6:30 tomorrow.
      -> The concert begins at 7:30 on April 10.
      -> The match starts in four hours.

그럼 미래형은 못 쓰나요?? 그건 아닌데 현재형을 압도적으로 선호.
fixed 된 시간표 -> 팩트 처럼 다루는 것임.

Present Continous

  • 지금 이 순간 진행 중인 동작
    -> He is is eating lunch right now.

  • 요즈음 진행 중인 행위
    -> We are are studying Engligh this semester.

  • 장기간에 걸쳐 일어나고 있는 변화
    -> The earth is slowly getting warmer.

  • 가까운 미래에 하기로 잡아놓은 일✨

    • 사적인 일
      -> I 'm playing badminton with Mathew tomorrow.
      = I'm going to play badminton with Mathew tomorrow.

Simple present VS Present continous

  • Simple Present – permanent/typical situation

  • Present Continuous – temporary/special situation

  • I work at a sports shop. It’s a permanent job.

  • I’m working at a sports shop for six weeks.

  • I live in Seoul. (a current situation as permanent)

  • I’m living in Seoul. (a current situation as temporary)

  • Wendy is normally a quiet person. (a typical situation)

  • She is being wild tonight. (a temporary/special situation)

Always/continually/continuously/constantly

  • Present Continuous + always : ‘very often, too often’ -> 너무 자주해서 싫어
  • Present Simple + always : ‘every time’ -> 진짜 맨날

-> Tom is always inviting friends here. 톰이 맨날 친구 초대해. (짜증나)
-> Tom always invites us to stay at Christmas. 톰이 우리를 항상 크리스마스에 초대해.
