Senator Andy Kim: Today, Trump signed his Big Disastrous Bill into law. On a day when families around the country are celebrating the rights and freedoms that our nation was founded on, Trump and Republicans in Congress have betrayed the American people and our founding principles of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
By slashing funding for Medicaid that will strip millions of their health care, close hospitals and nursing homes, and make it harder for seniors and people with disabilities to get the lifesaving care they need, Trump has betrayed the American people. By cutting billions of dollars in food assistance that children and families rely on to survive, Trump has shown that he has no regard for our lives, our liberties, or our happiness.
Trump’s actions today are unpatriotic and inherently un-American.
