One of interesting area of mine I have explored is to develop visual localization algorithms combining the strong representation of CNNs with fundamental visual geometry-based theories. One of the introductory classes I took in the first term in graduate school, Multiple View Geometry, triggered my interest in 3D vision and visual geometry. My persistent interest in this topic led me to participate in IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Winter School on SLAM, where I worked out monocular depth estimation via transfer learning. After attending the Winter School, I set my sight on building a visual localization model that is robust in various environments since scenes are always changed among different sequences and other datasets as well.
